LEGO EDUCATION

How might we leverage early learners’ enthusiasm for LEGO DUPLO bricks and digital games to help develop social and emotional values?

In 2014, I facilitated a workshop at LEGO HQ in Denmark to develop concepts for a hybrid digital/physical play experience to help teach social and emotional values to young learners using LEGO DUPLO bricks.

Over eight LEGO Education staff were involved in the on-site workshop and all reported that it was the most helpful workshop they had been a part of that year. During our time we gathered valuable insight and validated over 10 new concepts using rapid prototyping and user testing to show how hands-on play mixed with a strong digital experience could drive real learning outcomes.

My role included strategy and user experience design for a teacher activity planning tool and sample social emotional curriculum for early learners.

Working hand-on with kids during the workshop allowed us to validate and invalidate multiple concepts quickly.
